About Oia
Oia is a cliffside village at the north end of Santorini. The village is known for its sunset and for cliffside dining at the end of the hike from Fira.
A visit here is mostly about the evening. Crowds gather at dusk to watch the sun go down over the caldera, so the lanes fill up. Taxis back are hard to find in peak summer, so many visitors go back by bus to Fira.
- 588 steps climb from the old port of Fira

Good to know
- Taxis back from Oia are hard to find, especially in peak summer season, so plan the ride back early.
- Dusk crowds gather in Oia, and the sunset falls near the end of the port day, so leave time to get back to the pier.
- The boat passes the volcanic cliffs below Oia, a view best seen from the water rather than a stop ashore.
