Akrotiri
Akrotiri is a Bronze Age Minoan city buried under volcanic ash and pumice and left well preserved. Walk its streets and see the houses, the layout and the wall paintings the excavation has uncovered.
About Akrotiri
Akrotiri is a Bronze Age Minoan city on the southern part of Santorini. Volcanic pumice and ash buried it, and that cover has kept the streets and houses well preserved for excavation to uncover.
A visit is a walk through the excavated town under a giant canopy, which keeps the site comfortable even in hot summer months. The Museum of Prehistoric Thera, in Fira, tells the story of the settlement and is a good stop before or after.
