A cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas is one amazing vacation! This is a Voyager-class ship filled with features not found on any other cruise line. It was this class of ship that debuted the Royal Promenade, a corridor the length of a football field lined with a café, ice cream parlor, bars, and boutiques. It was a genius at work that designed cabins with windows that overlook this lively area, the heart of the ship! Yet this is just a sampling of what you can expect when you cruise the Mariner of the Seas. There is so much more!

Like her sister ships, Mariner of the Seas has a rock climbing wall, mini golf, golf simulator, a sports court and both ice and in-line skating. There are multiple swimming pools for everyone to enjoy including one in the adult-only solarium and a trio of three small pools and slides at the children’s Adventure Beach area.

Adventure Ocean, the complimentary children’s program, has distinct age groups so children are kept busy with age appropriate games and activities. For teenagers there are two “teen-only” rooms. The “Living Room,” resembles a real living room with a bar, flat screen TV, computer room, and lots of sofas for hanging out and meeting other teens. The other teen room is called Fuel. It has a state-of-the-art sound system, bar and dance floor. At night it’s a great place where teens can enjoy a “mocktail” and dance the night away.

The fitness center has all the equipment that major sports clubs do: weight machines, free weights, stationary spin bikes, stair steppers, treadmills, sauna, whirlpool, steam room, and thermal suites. Plus a sweeping ocean view! All the latest classes are offered, from Pilates to spinning to kickboxing, for all levels. There are even personal training sessions available.

A visit to the ship’s spa is the perfect place to unwind and get pampered.  From lavish treatment rooms with ocean views to luxurious therapies inspired by exotic cultures, a few hours spent here is pure indulgence. The spa menu is decadent and updated frequently to keep it fresh and new.  They may offer a lime and ginger salt exfoliation ritual or possibly a Thai herbal poultice massage. Ah, feel that pent up stress melt away!

Casino Royale is a great place to spend an hour or two, even if you’re not a big gambler! One of the best parts about gambling at sea is that the cruise ship dealers are more patient and willing to help a beginner learn the games. There are even free gaming lessons.  Casino Royale has slot machines, blackjack, craps, roulette, and Caribbean stud poker.

The beautiful Dining Room spans three decks and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. “My Time Dining”, an open seating option is available to guests that want flexibility built into their diningtimes. Traditional main and late seating at dinner is also offered. There are two reservation-only restaurants aboard the Mariner.  Chops Grille is a traditional steakhouse, and Portofino is Italian restaurant. Both are well worth the small surcharge.

The casual Windjammer Café offers an extensive buffet to choose from, whether it be morning, noon or night. Jade, located in the same area, serves Asian fusion cuisine.  It is open nightly for dinner and offers innovative creations as well as traditional favorites. For smaller meals and snacks Johnny Rockets and the Promenade Café are quite satisfying.

Evening shows are always spectacular, whether you’re watching an extravaganza starring the Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers or the talented world class figure skaters. Many of the bars and lounges have live music, dancing, or piano sing-a-longs. Vintages, Royal Caribbean’s first wine bar at sea, is a warm and inviting spot. The menu includes a range of options from some of the best wine-producing regions in the world. They also offer wine tastings and classes.
