Explorer of the Seas is the second ship in Royal Caribbean’s Voyager-class. After just one cruise on a ship within this class, it’s hard to think about a cruise without the Royal Promenade! The corridor, about the length of a football field, is perfect for coffee and a snack, a late night slice of pizza, people watching, shopping, or hanging out in one of the lively bars.  It is the heart of the ship, buzzing with activity from morning until late into the night. And while the Promenade attracts guests to its center like a magnet, there are so many other areas of the ship that beckon.

Whether it’s scaling the rock wall, navigating the inline skating track, competing in an intense game of one-on-one on the basketball court, or playing family putt-putt golf, those seeking activity will find plenty to do! There’s no need to compromise your daily workout while onboard. The fitness center is better equipped than many home town gyms and nothing can compare with the view from these treadmills!

The day spa on the Explorer of the Seas is the perfect way to escape and be pampered for an hour…or even a day! There is a menu of wonderful options to choose from. It could be a deep tissue massage to relieve a sore neck, tense shoulders and aching back, or maybe a facial to deeply cleanse and nourish skin, leaving a radiant glow.

The pool area is a hub of activity on sea day! The cruise director and activity staff will have it no other way!  They may be crazy and possibly a bit juvenile, but there’s no doubt that the dancing, contests and games that take place pool side are entertaining for participants and spectators, alike.

Those looking for less commotion can find refuge in the adult-only solarium. It too has a pool and hot tubs but the atmosphere is a bit more serene. In fairness, if adults are given their own space, than children should too, and Adventure Beach is just that. Three pools, junior size waterslides and plenty of shade and lounge chairs allowing mom and dad can supervise in comfort.

Fine dining is always something to look forward to on the Explorer of the Seas.  A multi-tier dining room, each level named after a famous global explorer, is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Royal Caribbean offers guests traditional early and late dinner seating, as well as My Time open seating. For a more intimate dinner, Portofino is open nightly. The food is hearty Tuscan influenced Italian with choices of beef, chicken, veal, and seafood entrees.

Casual meals are served in the Windjammer Café & Island Grill as well as Johnny Rockets, a 50’s style diner. In addition, the Café Promenade has pizza, sandwiches and pastries practically round-the-clock. Soft-serve yogurt is complimentary 24/7 and Ben & Jerry’s is sold in the Promenade.

A ship this big is able to offer lots of choices in evening entertainment.  One show that should not be missed is the ice show performed several times a week at Studio B. The world champion skaters come from around the world, and to watch them spin, twirl, dance and jump on an undersized rink is nothing short of spectacular. For Broadway caliber musical shows, the Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers perform at The Palace Theater.

The Chamber dance club pulsates with pop, rock, rap and punk and whatever else will get bodies moving on the dance floor. There is a casino, screening room and numerous themed bars and lounges in which to spend an evening. Even on a seven night cruise guests are pressed for time in trying to experience all the Explorer of the Seas has to offer.
