Dining Aboard the Celebrity Edge
Celebrity Cruises revealed details of the dining program aboard the soon to sail Celebrity Edge and I have to say, I absolutely love how they have updated the main dining choices! No worries, it’s nothing too radical…I’d call it a modernization of the dining program! Instead of a main dining room, the Edge will have four complimentary restaurants. I like this because although I’ve always found the main dining rooms on Celebrity ships to be elegant and beautiful, I personally prefer to dine in a more intimate setting.
All four of its main dining restaurants will be different, inspired by four different regions of the world. Normandie will feature French cuisine, Cyprus Restaurant will highlight Mediterranean, Cosmopolitan will present new American cuisine, and Tuscan Restaurant will serve Italian-inspired dishes.
Here’s where I think Celebrity really nailed it…it’s not going to matter all that much as to which dining room a guest is assigned to because 75% of the items on the menu are the same in every restaurant. What will be different in each restaurant is the “featured items” on the menu. For example, if dining in Normandie, there will be three appetizers, three entrees and two desserts that are French-inspired. The rest, 75%, is the same as is found in all four main restaurants.
Traditional Dining, including both an early and a late seating, is alive and well on the Celebrity Edge. Guests choosing this option will get to dine with the same tablemates and waiter every evening, in the same restaurant (one of the four mentioned above), with the option to dine in another one upon request.
For those guests looking for a bit more flexibility there’s also a Celebrity Select Dining Plus option, which gives guest the option of choosing when and where they’d like to eat, with all four main dining rooms an option.
Celebrity Edge will sail its first itineraries starting in November 2018 from Fort Lauderdale.
