Seattle, over the past decade, has grown into a significant cruise port on the Pacific coast. The starting point for an Alaskan or Canadian cruise, this Washington Port saw 933,000 total travelers over the last season, and nearly all major liners leave from the city’s two terminals. For cruises from Washington, the Bell Street Cruise Terminal at Pier 66 has long been the departure point. This terminal is one aspect of an 11-acre, multi-purpose complex in the city’s downtown and is currently home to Norwegian Cruise Line and Celebrity Cruises, both offering weekly trips to Alaska from May through September. Parking, however, can be difficult, and passengers are recommended to make reservations. A shuttle connects the lot with the cruise terminal.

The Smith Cove Cruise Terminal at Pier 91 serves other major lines, including Carnival, Disney, Holland America, Princess, and Royal Caribbean. This pier is just a short distance from the Space Needle and the city’s shopping options. Parking is typically available, with a shuttle connecting the lot to the terminal.

For the individual or family planning to stay in Seattle, the city and surrounding parts of Washington have several attractions. Hotels range from economy to luxury, and should you decide to fly into the city, the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is just 20 to 30 minutes away from the piers. Dining, arts and entertainment, and retail are varied, while the entire city sits on Puget Sound, surrounded by the Cascade Mountains and Olympic Mountains. If you decide to take in a bit of nature, plan to visit Mr. Rainer, the North Cascades, the coastal beaches, and Washington’s rainforests.
