Cruise from Maryland

MarylandAs a midpoint on the Atlantic seaboard, Baltimore, Maryland is perfectly positioned for various Caribbean and Canada cruises. As a result, this city is home to two of the largest cruise lines: Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Lines.

Cruises from Maryland depart from the terminal at South Locust Point, located a short distance from the city’s well-known Inner Harbor area. Cruises departing from Baltimore, MD include Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas, an excursion traveling to Bermuda, Canada, New England, or the Caribbean, and the Carnival Pride, which sets sail and goes to ports in the Bahamas, Bermuda, and the Caribbean. Trips last anywhere from six to twelve nights.

Although a modern cruise terminal, the Port of Baltimore is more than 300 years old. Then known as Whetstone Point, the area was designated as an official Port of Entry in 1706. Over the years, the area was jointed with five smaller ports to become the Port of Baltimore. Presently, the full port covers 45 miles of shoreline.

Baltimore, MarylandAside from its coastal location, Baltimore is placed ideally for those living in or traveling to the Mid-Atlantic region. The terminal is just off I-95 and a 10-minute trip from BWI Airport. A shuttle, as well, provides service to and from the terminal. Those deciding to drive need no reservations for parking. The South Locust Point Marine Terminal lot is within walking distance of the cruise port. All those arriving need to consider checking-in and boarding time. It’s estimated to take 25 minutes from going through the main entrance gate to arriving at the terminal doors.

If you decide to stay overnight in the area, what options does Baltimore and the rest of Maryland hold? While Baltimore itself has its Harbor area and aquarium for activities, lodging is within walking or driving distance of the terminal. For convenience, various local hotels offer the option of long-term lot parking.
