Overview
Monarch of the Seas is the second of the original three Royal Caribbean Sovereign class ships (although Sovereign of the Seas has since been reassigned to the company’s Pullmantur fleet). The biggest and the best of its time, the builds of these ships is what originated the concept of the “megaship” and the introduction of resort-style cruising.  It’s innovative and dazzling five-story Centrum has become a hallmark of every Royal Caribbean vessel.

Two pools with two whirlpools in between set the stage for lazy days soaking up the sun, while quite possibly listening to the sounds of a live reggae band.  Those looking for more energetic activites can head up to the full court basketball area for a game of hoops, take advantage of the jogging track that loops around the deck, or scale the Royal Caribbean signature rock wall. If you prefer a more traditional workout, there is a state of the art fitness center to enjoy.  Then, when you’re ready to indulge those achy muscles, head up to the spa for a deep tissue massage. Ahhh!

The Monarch of the Seas offers a range of dining options.  The two main dining rooms, Claude’s and Vincent’s (after Monet and van Gough) offer traditional early and late seating times as well as Royal Caribbean’s open seating called “My Time” Dining. It is also open for breakfast and lunch.

The Windjammer Café is a buffet with different food stations serving a wide variety of foods.  Breakfast has plenty of fresh fruits, yogurts, hot and cold cereals, pastries, pancakes etc.  Lunch and dinner offers salads, soups, breads, carving meats, sandwich meats, hot entrees and desserts.

In the back of the Windjammer is Jade, an Asian-fusion restaurant open every evening for dinner.  The menu is influenced by Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Indonesian cuisine. Sushi is also available. Prices are a la carte.

Sorrento’s, located on the top deck, serves what else…pizza! Actually, delicious little sandwiches, too. This is the place to head to when you get a case of the late night munchies or a quick snack late in the afternoon.

Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream is located by the deck five Centrum area.  You’ll also find Latte-tudes, which serves Seattle’s Best Coffee, specialty coffee beverages as well as cookies and pastries.

When the sun goes down, the entertainment heats up aboard Monarch of the Seas. The Royal Caribbean singers and dancers put on a great show at the Sound of Music Theater, along with special headliner performers. Boleros, a Latin-themed lounge, is always one of the most popular spots on the ship and just the place to polish your salsa andmeringue moves. Or dance the night away at the Circuit dance club where DJ’s spin everything from pop to rock and techno to reggae. The Schooner Bar has live entertainment nightly, quite often sing-a-longs, and also hosts trivia challenges. Of course, the lounge with the best views is always the Viking Crown Lounge, so be sure to make it there for at least one drink at sunset.

At Casino Royale you can play slots, blackjack, roulette, etc.  Don’t know the rules?  No problem.  Check out when the free gaming lessons are given.  BINGO, a game everyone is familiar with, is played daily! Check your Cruise Compass for location.

The Monarch of the Seas sails year-round 3 and 4-night Bahamas itineraries out of Port Canaveral, Florida. Many include Royal Caribbean’s private island of Coco Cay.
