Royal Caribbean Legend of the Seas

Legend of the Seas is the first ship in a series of builds that would later be called Vision-class. These vessels have a bit of a different look and a more light and airy feel owing to the amount of windows and glass used. Once again the cruise experience changed, with the addition of new amenities never before seen on a cruise ship.

There is a large outdoor main pool flanked by two hot tubs and a bar on deck nine. Line dancing, pool games, and live music make this a very lively spot on most afternoons.  To find a more peaceful spot to lounge, head aft to the solarium. This adult-only area has a pool of its own, two hot tubs and a small café.  A retractable “crystal canopy” covers the area during inclement weather. This new area, though not necessarily with the sliding roof, would be included on all future ship builds.

One deck higher is a 9-hole miniature golf course, which is just as popular with adults as it is with children. You will also find ping-pong tables, jogging track and the iconic rock-climbing wall. Nobody has ever complained there was a shortage of things to do on a Royal Caribbean ship!

The lovely two-floor Romeo and Juliet dining room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Guests that prefer traditional dining may select from early or late seating. “My Time”, which is an open dining concept is also available.  There is also the option of the Windjammer Café for buffet service at mealtimes and late afternoon snacks. Self-serve ice cream is available round the clock.

Dining on Legend of the SeasAs mentioned previously, the solarium has a small café that serves quick lunches and late night snacks.  The offerings are somewhat limited; hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza and desserts, but its more than adequate when you have a case of the munchies.

There’s almost always an evening show at the That’s Entertainment Theatre.  The production show that stars the Royal Caribbean singers and dancers is always a cruise highlight, and on other evenings there may be a comedian, juggler, musician…

Evenings of dancing are an option at the Anchor’s Aweigh Lounge and the Viking Crown Lounge, the latter having the best views at sea! The Schooner Bar is for those that love the sounds of a live piano player, and sometimes its difficult not to sing along! For mellow evenings filled with good conversation head to the elegant Champagne Bar & Terrace.

Royal Caribbean Centrum LobbyCasino Royale is always exciting, although more so when you are winning! There are blackjack tables, poker tables, roulette wheels, a craps table, and lots of slots.  A roll of nickels can still provide hours of enjoyment while out at sea!  No need to travel too far to spend those winnings.  You can find clothing, jewelry and gift items by just climbing up a deck and shopping in the Centrum Boutiques!

The fitness center and day spa aboard the Legend of the Seas are both state-of-the-art facilities.  Expect the same equipment that is found at your hometown gym along with a wide selection of group fitness classes. The spa offers a menu of wonderfully indulgent treatments for both men and women.
