Brilliance of the Seas is the second ship in Royal Caribbean’s dazzling Radiance-class.  She is indeed brilliant with an abundance of glass allowing for panoramic views of sea and sky, flooding the multi-story atrium with light. With her classic nautical profile and beautiful interior design, there is sophistication to this class of ship that sets it apart from the rest of the fleet. However, akin to the rest of the fleet, there is a wide variety of activity and entertainment onboard.

The top decks of the Brilliance are lively areas with lots of options for active cruisers.  It’s not hard to find the Royal Caribbean signature rock-climbing wall towering 200 feet above sea level. Golfers will enjoy practicing their putting on the miniature golf course and perfecting their swing with the help of the golf simulator. There is a sports court for basketball, volleyball and dodge ball; you only need to show up to find yourself part of the game!  It’s easy to maintain your exercise routine at sea since this ship has both a jogging track and a state-of-the-art fitness center.

The main pool and adjacent hot tub area is the hub for sea day activity. A live band plays on most of these afternoons and the cruise director is usually around organizing dances or games. Families with small children can splish-splash through the fountains in the Adventure Beach area, which also has a pool as well as twisted water slide.  Guests looking for a more peaceful pool area will find serenity in the adult-only solarium complete with its own pool, hot tubs and retractable roof..

The Minstrel Dining Room spans to decks with a grand staircase connecting them.  It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. “My Time Dining”, an open seating option is available to guests that want flexibility built into their dining times. Traditional main and late seating at dinner is also offered. The Windjammer Café is open early for breakfast and throughout the day for lunch, snacks and dinner. Always casual, this buffet restaurant serves a variety of hot and cold foods, freshly baked breads as well as having an enormous salad bar and dessert station.

A pizzeria can be found up by the solarium and is open late into the night for after-clubbing munchies. Café Latte-tudes, off the Centrum, serves specialty coffee drinks and pastries. The Seaview Café, often not discovered by guests until the 3rd or 4th day of the cruise, is a great place to grab a light lunch or a late-night snack. The menu offers everyone’s favorite bar food, classic deli sandwiches, desserts and a wide selection of beer and wine.

There are two specialty restaurants on the Brilliance. Guests can enjoy a delicious Italian meal in an intimate and romantic setting at Portofino. Chops Grille, on the other hand, is a classic American-style steakhouse. Some people may ask why anyone would pay to dine on a cruise ship when the food is included and very good at a variety of restaurants onboard.  Dining in one of these specialty restaurants is far different than what you will experience elsewhere on the ship. The multi-course meal is served at a leisurely pace in a more intimately sized room. The food is prepared to-order and appealingly presented. It is truly comparable to walking into a five star restaurant at a fraction of the cost.

There is live music and dancing at several different lounges each night as well as “games” organized by the cruise director and staff.  The talented Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers put on shows in the Pacifica Theater that rivals Broadway. A casino, cinema, shopping area and several themed bars and lounges are sure to keep everyone entertained in the evening.
