Norwegian Cruise Line BalconyOverview
Built in 2001 and refurbished in 2004, the Norwegian Sun received another multi-million dollar “makeover” in January of 2011.  With that most recent refurbishment, the Sun offers its guests the latest generation of NCL’s “Freestyle Cruising”.  The ship now provides 14 different dining options plus 10 lounges, several entertainment venues and a wide array of stateroom accommodations.

Included among the specialty dining options is the Moderno Churrascaria, a Brazilian all-you-can-eat steak and salad restaurant that immediately became a big hit when it was first introduced on the Norwegian Epic.  Other specialty restaurants include Le Bistro and Teppanyaki, each with a per person cover charge.  Main dining options (no cover charge) include the Four Seasons restaurant, Seven Seas and the ever-popular Garden Café.

Norwegian Cagney's SteakhouseBesides the many restaurants, indoor public areas on the Norwegian Sun include a well-equipped fitness center and spa, a library, duty-free shops, the Internet Café, the Sun Club casino and the Stardust show lounge which seats up to 1,066 guests for production shows and other first-rate entertainment.  Outdoor public recreational areas include basketball / volleyball courts, pools, hot tubs, jogging track.  Special areas are also designated for young children and teens.

Because of her intermediate size (78,309 tons, 848 feet in length and 105 feet in width), the Norwegian Sun can (and does) visit many ports that larger ships cannot navigate.  As a result, the itineraries on the Norwegian Sun are among the most diverse in the cruise industry.  So, regardless of how many cruises you may have been on, your cruise aboard the Norwegian Sun is likely to be unlike any other.

Consumer Review:Don 't go on this ship unless you want a horrible experience. The dining rooms were filthy, the service people were rude, the food was only warm and not good at all. Only 5 TV channels and the movies that were shown were not new releases as we had on others cruises.
Consumer Review:I highly recommend Direct Line Cruise and the Norwegian Sun and the Shore Excursions. Everything was first class. Everyone was available to meet our every need. This was my first cruise and I did not want to disembark! I was never sea sick (wore the wrist bands only). Upon our return, a wonderful (salaried) porter loaded our luggage onto a cart and loaded it into the trunk of our car. Loved the shows (lots of audience participation opportunities). Everything and everybody exceeded my expectations. I felt great comfort from knowing the cruise line cared about me and cared about their staff - it doesn't get any better than that! Thank you all very much! See you soon!
Consumer Review:My girlfriend and I both enjoyed the experience overall - including the cruise ship, ports of call, food, and service to name the most important aspects for us. However, there were a lot of things that immediately or eventually put us off to NCL (or at least this particular cruise ship of their fleet): one, the cleanliness of the staterooms was pretty poor and the room was almost in poor condition when compared to an equivalent room on Celebrity; two, the demographic of this cruse was somewhere between 40-50 years older than our age group on average - making it sort of a strange cruise because it oscillated between late night fun and feeling as if you were in an old age home; three, the ports of call are kind of ratty overall and it would be nice if NCL offered more inviting/exciting trips for people not over the hill; four, the "freestyle cruising" aspect that is so highly touted as being second-to-none on NCL isn't all it's cracked up to be in our limited but somewhat experienced expertise (I have three cruises under my belt). It really turns out to manifest itself in a lower quality of food throughout the entire ship as opposed to other cruises having specific gaps in dining areas (i.e: low, medium, and high scale dining). People, despite the freestyle aspect, tend to crowd in the same places every night, making it a nightmare to get food if you go anywhere from 6:30-8:00pm for dinner. It wears on you after a couple days when you realize this is how it's gonna be, then you have to either go early or late to everything; finally, five, this particular ship is just not designed in a very appealing way - it seems to congested in the dinning areas, and conversely to sparse of entertainment or a cohesive style on the other parts of the ship. It lacks what other ships I've been on have exploited - the amazing views you get from the cruise ship. In the end, the cruise on a whole was nice because of one thing primarily: the whether (which don't get me wrong, is a huge factor). However, I will certainly test other cruise lines in the future and just may have to revert back to a proven winner in Celebrity.
Consumer Review:Our cabin steward was outstanding & vessel staff was great
Consumer Review:The worse part was when you try to have breakfast, lunch or dinner in the Garden Cafe and don't find a tabble, and have to run every room to find and empy spot to seat.Is a shame, and that because the people has breakfast, lunch and dinner and they stay in the eating area playing dominos or having another amusement, keeping the tables all the time occupied.there are places for that activities instead of using the area that is exclusive for eating.
Consumer Review:We chose Direct Line Cruises because of previous excellent experience. While there were shortcomings on our Cruise, they fully were the fault of Norwegian Cruise Lines which needs to adjust it smoking policy regulations and better plan and monitor its disembarkation.
