Consumer Review:ALTHOUGH THE NIGHTTIME ENTERTAINMENT WAS SPECTACULAR, THERE WAS REALLY NOTHING OFFERED DURING THE DAY. UPON ENTERING OUR CABIN, WHICH WAS SAID TO BE JUST CLEANED, THERE WERE CHEERIOS ON THE FLOOR, WHICH REMAINED DURING OUR ENTIRE STAY. THE ROOMS WERE ENTIRELY TOO SMALL AS WERE THE BATHROOMS/SHOWERS. THE LIMITED CHOICES OF FOOD IN THE DINING ROOM WAS VERY DISTURBING, AS WAS THE SERVICE RECIEVED THERE AND THE ATTITUDE OF THE WAITSTAFF. THE CROWDS ENCOUNTERED WHEN TRYING TO EAT DINNER WAS ALSO VERY DISTURBING. PERHAPS IF SOME OF THOSE SPECIALITY RESTAURANTS DID NOT REQUIRE A COVER CHARGE, MORE PEOPLE COULD ACTUALLY EAT WHAT THEY WANT WHEN THEY WANT AS IS THE NORWEIGIAN FREESTYLE CLAIM. THE DISEMBARKATION PROCESS IS A JOKE. IT IS WAY TOO CROWDED. THERE IS NO WAY FOR THE STAFF TO KNOW HOW MANY GUESTS HAVE CHOSEN EACH DESIGNATED COLOR.

Consumer Review:Being that this was our first cruise we do not have anything to compare it with, but it was an extremely pleasurable experience from soup to nuts. I really liked the freestyle cruising and the casual feel for the ship when dining; however, it was definately not too casual. People still dressed neatly, and mostly smart casual. The dining service was still very accomodating and elegant. The ship was completely booked, especially with families, but we still found a way to keep it quiet and romantic when we wanted it to be (it was our 25th anniversary).

Consumer Review:cruises are always beautiful. they try to cater to your every whim, but if you ever have a problem, you can count on them to not fix it. this cruise was good, not the best. they straighten out your room, but they dont sanitize it, or the shower. dont change your beds everyday, just make them, and change the carpet in front of your cabin as your coming and going all day. had music blasting as if it was coming from my own room at 1 in the morning from the disco a floor below, for 4 nights, and when you complain, they say there working on it, yeah, ok, it will be fixed on sunday, when you get off the ship. woke my kids up in the middle of the night cause it was soooooo loud, and the food sucked. same stupid ass menu for the whole week, so of course you wind up going to the specialty restaurants, and paying for it. as far as the buffet is concerned, thats a nightmare!!!! long lines, greasy food, and no where to sit.......................dont know if i will ever travel with norwegian again, may try something else. so, enjoy your cruise, hope it goes better than mine did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Consumer Review:Cruising on The Norwegian Dawn was an extraordinary experience for our family of 26. The boat was beautiful, the staff was helpful and friendly, the facilities were state of the art, the entertainment was spectacular. We loved every minute. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

Consumer Review:did not like the additional fees for sit down dinning. Express walk off was not express!! Cruise line should be aware of the numbers of people that choose this way of exiting and plan accordingly alarge number of the music entertainement had heavy accents and were not top quality. (Can the Beatles Tribute!!!) Loved the bollywood act witht he dance couple. Fire and Ice music was great!

Consumer Review:Embarkation - very easy. Disembarkation - on the ship itself was a little disorganized. More staffing would be a good idea. Too many people left on their own carrying their own luggage. Made things disorganized. The cruise director and assistant cruise director was EXCELLENT! As a matter of fact - the entire staffing of the cruise were wonderful. Did find it very odd that smoking was allowed in the staterooms and on the balonies. That was one thing that we really did not like. We also thought that having to pay for soda, expresso, cappachino at dinner was a little "nickle and diming". They should be included at meal times. Overall - had a great time!

Consumer Review:Embarkation: Arrived at pier and requested wheelchair assistance and was given number 29 (current numbe called + 12) After 45 minute wait number called was 18! We asked to be escorted to Needing Assistance line and were checked in within 15 minutes. This system needs to be revised by adding additional staff and sufficient wheelcahairs to accommodate guests. On second morning, my traveling companion was berated by cabin steward and told he can't sleep that late because he (cabin steward) wouldn't be able to get his work done! I reported this and cabin steward was changed. Overall, the cruise staff was terrific and everything went well.

Consumer Review:Excellent Value & service

Consumer Review:Great family cruise. Exceptionally friendly staff and a number of on-board activities for children. Freestlye cruising was a great experience and I would do this again.

Consumer Review:Great to cruise out of New York & freestyle dining is terrific.

Consumer Review:Having cruised before, I didn't really care for the "cafeteria" style food service. The main dining rooms were either overcrowded or a long wait time. When we did get seated, our order was wrong and our requests for items was not met. The menu also did not vary. The specialty dining room was superb, however, very pricey. The entertainment was good (except for one show one night). There was not a lot of activities onboard for teens (you can only play so much shuffleboard and ping-pong). The pool was overcrowded as there were a lot of very heavy passengers onboard (for the all-you-can-eat service). Our cabin steward was excellent. Didn't really care for being charged a gratuity on EVERY beverage (one soda $2.24). The mixed drinks were good, but overpriced---and 6 beers for $30 is excessive. It would have been nice to have more time in Bermuda---3 days was rushed.

Consumer Review:Having cruised just twice before and once before with Direct Line, I knew going on Norwegian and booking with Direct Line was the right choice for my third cruise. The first time we booked through a small travel agency and we had to keep calling for documents and information. I did not have to worry about the details, the travel documentation came fast, the newsletters and info on the excursions helped us in advance of the cruise. The travel tips and knowledge they passed on made it easy to go to Bermuda for the first time. The agents are very nice, very knowledgeable. The promotions to book with them and the free travel insurance make it a great value. My agent called Norwegian to verify that my cabin did not have an obstructed view from the window. She took the time to do so and even checked in with me while I held and apologized for the wait. I have faith in Direct Line to make sure I do not have to worry about details only to enjoy my vacation that I save all year for. The 10 people who booked with me on this cruise felt the same way. I would recommend Norwegian for the free style cruising. Eat dinner when you want, not being stuck rushing back on board to eat at a set time. We had the time of our lives and you can bet we will be booked for June 2010 along with the growing band of travellers we have been going with. Happy cruising.

Consumer Review:I found out that I personally don't like free style cruises. The members of the ships crew were very polite and helpful when approached. However, I like the personalization that you get in a diningroom when you have the same waiters every day. Also, I found the food on the Norweigen Dawn to be only of medium quality. Maybe they were saving all their good quality for the restaurants that you had to pay extra for, I don't know, I didn't go to those restaurants.

Consumer Review:I had a health emergency at home after one day at sea. My husband became ill and had to go to the hospital. The conserge ( Claire)on the Norw. Dawn was wonderful. Within 2 or 3 minutes on her computer she found a flight from Hamilton BA to Newark on the day we docked. Consoled me and told me I was not alone and they would take care of anything I needed. I was able to use the ships' phone at any time to confer with my children. Fortunately, he improved and I was able to conclude my cruise!

Consumer Review:I have been on the Spirit, the Dream and the Dawn now. My friend has been on 2 other. Each trip haas been exceptional. Would recommned this line to anyone.
|
Consumer Review:I loved the free style, you eat on your own time and get dresses up when ever fit you. I would like to see a little more variety on the menu especially at the specialty restaurants. The prices at these restaurants should be a little lower.
|
Consumer Review:I needed rest, relaxation, good food, good entertainment, sun and a drink in my hand. The Norwegian Dawn provided all of that and more - a staff who was there for your every need. I loved it and would do this again in a heartbeat.

Consumer Review:I was hesitant to go on NCL having cruised before w/other lines but was surprisingly impressed with the cruiseline. We were quickly expedited to the ship and the cleanliness was unbelievable. Food was also quite good but we did not participate in many of the restaurants that had a copay as we felt the food was very good in the dining room. I was a little disappointed with the entertainment though and felt that could be stepped up a bit. Not much doing during the days at sea but since we were not alone, it was OK. They only have one area that is 24 hrs. for food (mostly snacks and burgers) but felt a little dessert like cookies would be great there to go along with a cup of tea/coffee late at night. We took advantage of the spa and thought they were wonderful. Again, a perfect time to vacation as it wasn't that hot in Bermuda and while the ship seemed full, it wasn't busting.
|
Consumer Review:I was not thrilled with the NCL Dawn to Bermuda. I didn't like the layout of the ship and the room was very very small. The Princess had 2 pools, one for adults and one for families with a giant movie screen showing movies at the pool and concerts at night.
|
Consumer Review:It was a nice cruise, but we lost an engine on the way to Bermuda, and because of this we lost a day there. We recieved a $50 room credit, but most of the passengers felt that it should have been more since now tNorwegian was able to have the shops and the casino open it wasn't a hardship for them.

Consumer Review:My family and i have the BEST VACATION EVER!!! Thank you for all your help

Consumer Review:My family and I just returned from a one week stay on the NCL NORWEGIAN DAWN. Departing out of NYC to BERMUDA. The ship was as expected, and the cabins were comfortable. The steward staff attended to our every needs, from delivering our luggage in a very timely manner, to making up our rooms several times each day. We had 3 connecting rooms, with three children. The cabin attendants paid extra attention to the children's needs (even providing additonal towels), as well as to the adults' needs (cleaning up a flooded bathroom expedititously). Food was very good overall is both the dining rooms as well as the specialty restaurants. I do not beleive that you actually need to pay extra to eat at a specialty restaurant, as the two (cost-inclusive) dining rooms had great food. We had lobster and filet several nights in the "included" dining rooms. So I cannot understand why the Teppanyaki restaurant charged $25 extra per person. And room service was extremely fast; we never waited more than 20 minutes for delivery. My biggest (perhaps only) complaint is that there really are no beverages for adults to drink; the ship pushes the bar (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) drinks. If you don't purchase the soda card (which is a rip-off because it only includes two or three different beverages, not even those being sold in cans), you end up drinking water or milk. I could not even get juice anywhere on the ship; how ridiculous is that? And I had to pay for soda in a can. So unless I was willing to pay the outrageous bar bills (ie $10-15 per drink at the bars), I was left to drink only water or milk throughout my entire cruise. Every other cruise I have ever been on included lemonade or fruit punch, iced tea, and juices. Why doesn't NCL include them also?

Consumer Review:NCL Dawn to Bermuda was great except for the food. If it wasn't for the Garden Cafe we wouldn't have had a place to eat. Venetian was okay and Impressions was terrible. Very disappointed in the food (guess that's why we didn't gain weight). Other negative as the spa desk staff which was rude and non accomodating. Our stewards were great! Our experiences in the lounges and bars were good. Leaving the ship was a nightmare... two hour wait. There were many upset people waiting in long lines waiting to get off. We had a great time because of the people we were with and letting the negative go. We made our good time. Bermuda was beautiful and loved our three days there.
