Holland America Oosterdam

Named after the eastern compass point, the MS Oosterdam is the second ship in Holland America’s Vista class. The vessel debuted in 2003 with such innovative technology as diesel power and an Azipod propulsion system. Over the past 10 years, Holland America designated this cruise ship primarily for Mexican Riviera itineraries in the winter months and Alaska for the rest of the year. Locations, however, have been changing, with the cruise line shifting this ship into South Pacific, Hawaiian, and Australian regions. As with all Holland America ships, a piece of art sits at the center of the MS Oosterdam. Here, it’s a Waterford crystal globe, located inside a three-story atrium, that symbolizes the cruise line’s 140-year history.
