Celebrity Cruises Eclipse
Launched in April of 2010, the Eclipse joins Celebrity’s award-winning family of “Solstice-class” ships, which includes the Celebrity Solstice, the Celebrity Equinox, the Celebrity Silhouette and the Celebrity Reflection. At 122,000 tons (the largest class of ships in the Celebrity fleet), the Eclipse is surprisingly easy to get around on and, even with a full capacity of 2,850 passengers (based on double occupancy), the ship does not feel “crowded”.
Consistent with Celebrity’s position in the industry as a “premium” cruise line (as distinguished from “mass market” or “luxury”), the overall look and “feel” of the Eclipse might be best described as “subdued elegance”. Colors in the main lobby area are soft and light, while other public areas and lounges (including Michael’s Club and Cellar Masters) are adorned in deep natural wood tones with luxurious furnishings and plush carpeting. The pool and solarium areas are spacious as is the “Lawn Club” where passengers can enjoy playing croquet, basking in the sun on the finely manicured natural grass or casually watching a glass-blowing exhibition by talented craftsmen and women from the world-renowned Corning Glass museum.
The main dining room on Celebrity Eclipse, Moonlight Sonata, offers a fine selection of exquisitely-prepared dishes every night and the Select Dining is a nice departure from the regimented two-seating arrangement on most traditional cruise ships. Specialty restaurants include Murano, Tuscan Grille and Quisine, where guests can sample a wide variety of unique entrees and side dishes, each described on an I-pod menu. The service provided by the staff is excellent and there are some nice little “extra touches”, such as greeting you back onboard with a complimentary welcome-back soft drink and a “spritz” of cool spray after a long day of shore excursions at your exciting ports of call.
Entertainment onboard the Eclipse includes Broadway-style production shows as well as variety shows featuring jugglers, magicians and comedians and much more. Then, there’s Fortune’s Casino, the Elemis AquaSpa, Entertainment Court, multiple lounges and a large, well-equipped fitness center to work-off those fabulous meals.
Like every modern cruise ship, the Celebrity Eclipse offers a wide variety of accommodations, ranging from lower-priced interior cabins (with no window) to huge luxury suites with personal butlers. All staterooms (regardless of price) include complimentary 24-hour room service, 100% Egyptian cotton towels, interactive flat-screen television, individually-controlled air-conditioning and other amenities that you would expect to find a premium class ship.
So, step-up to the premium cruise experience onboard Celebrity Eclipse.
