Overview
Ask a hundred people what their favorite cruise ship is and the chances are pretty good that some of them will name the Celebrity Century.  When she was first launched in 1995, the Celebrity Century was immediately recognized as one of the most elegant ships built in many years.  Not gaudy, not flamboyant and not pretentious in any way, the Century is traditional but certainly not out of date.

When she was refurbished in 2006, the project engineers understood the task at hand and were able to add many new features without changing the classic character of the ship.  So, the Celebrity Century successfully retains her unique charm while offering many of the features and amenities found on the most modern cruise ships.

Interactive flat screen TV’s have replaced the original tube televisions in the Century’s staterooms, which were completely refurbished.  Stateroom colors are soft and pleasing with wood trim generously providing rich accents to the elegant décor.  Accommodations include interior staterooms (comfortably sized at 174 square feet), ocean-view staterooms (with porthole or window), ocean-view staterooms with private veranda and, of course, suites including the entry level Century Suite (category NS), Sky Suites (categories S1 and S2), the Royal Suite (category RS) and the incredible Penthouse Suite (category PS).  As part of the refurbishment of the Century in 2006, Celebrity Cruises also expanded availability of Concierge Class staterooms in the most desirable locations on the ship.  Surprisingly affordable, these veranda staterooms entitle their guests to special privileges including early embarkation and disembarkation, priority check-in, welcome aboard champagne with fresh fruit and flowers, preferred seating at dinner, evening hors d’oeuvres, and a variety of other concierge services.

Like all modern ships in the Celebrity Cruises fleet, the Celebrity Century now offers specialty dining venues, such as the incomparable Murano Restaurant, in addition to its main dining venue (appropriately named the Grand Restaurant).  Other new additions include a sushi bar and the Cova Café’, just to name a few.  The AquaSpa on the Century was also completely re-built so that it now rivals the AquaSpa facilities on the newest Celebrity ships.  And, the sports complex on the upper deck has been greatly expanded along with the venues for young children and teens.

Once thing that has not changed on the Celebrity Century is the world-class service.  Consistent with the classic character of this ship, the level of service onboard the Century is reminiscent of the ocean liners from another day.  So, when you are selecting a cruise ship for your next cruise vacation, there’s no need to choose between traditional and modern cruise ship features.  The Celebrity Century truly offers the best of both worlds.

 

 

 

Among the most impressive sights aboard the Celebrity Century cruise ship is the Grand Foyer, where the impressive scenery captivates observers with its double staircases, and the expansive space of the soaring atrium.
