Consumer Review:Food was extremely palatable and were pleased with the "your time" dining option. Thought the online boarding passes were extremely easy and no need to worry about checking in at the cruise port. All services were extremely well run.
Consumer Review:Overall our 1st cruise was a very nice experience. I'm glad we went. We definitely had great weather. Sailing was smooth. In fact, before sailing I thought I would get seasick. I did not. The only adjustment I had to make was to look inside the boat instead of outside at the ocean, when passing by the water, otherwise i could feel my equilibrium getting thrown off. One great thing about cruising is you do not have to think about what to make for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks. All the food you want is available when you want it. The servers are great too. They definitely go out of their way for you. Cabins were nice too. Bigger than I expected for a main deck. Rooms were kept very clean. As for the excursions; Cayman Islands was ok, nothing great. Cozumel, Mexico was beautiful. I would definitely vacation there again. A few unexpected items are listed below that I wish I knew about ahead of time. Aside from these we enjoyed the cruise and found it a very relaxing way to spend 5 days. Deinfitely worth crusing once. The value is there, though I must say, it'll probably be a while before we cruise again. Mostly because we enjoy different types of vacations and our teenage daughter was a little bored (though she loved the excursions and the food). UNEXPECTED ITEMS 1. The Cruise line definitely looks for ways to get you to part with your money, more so then we orginally anticipated; duty free alcohol, constant picture taking at $20 a pop, bingo cards, jewelry sales, and more. Though we were fairly conservative with our spending, the add-ons (which we enjoyed) did end up costing us more than we originally planned for. 2. Every time you order a drink or buy something that requires a charge they're all over you to get your sign and sail card. If you're sitting down, relaxing - let's say having a couple of drinks - they're on top of you for your card each time you order. It's especially annoying at dinner, where they could easily run a tab. It might be better (and maybe there's a way that I'm not aware of) if you can pre-pay for X dollars and they only hassle you if you go over that dollar amount or run a tab. 3. The descriptions of the shore excursions weren't completely clear or detailed enough to know exactly what to expect. In our case we thought we were paying to be driven to a location but ended up walking to our excursion. Additionally we had our own snorkeling equipment but because we purchased the excursion through the cruiseline we ended up having to pay to rent snorkeling equipment we didn't need. Nor were we given an option to pay less with our own equipment. 4. Aside from the musicians, not all, but much of the entertainment was guest initiated (talent show, men vs. women, karaoke). It was still fun, but on some level i was expecting more. Maybe it's just the cruiseline we were on. 5. The biggest disappointment was that we purchased duty free liquor onboard, but were not told by the cruise shop attendant, it was not listed on the cruise paperwork which discussed the purchase of duty free liquor, nor was it totally clear at the airline, until it was too late, that sealed liquor (in > 3 oz quantities) cannot be carried onto a plane. By the time we found out, it would have cost us an extra $35.00 to send the liquor as baggage. We ended up turning our alcohol over to airport security because it wasn't worth it to pay the extra money. This, being the last event, before flying home, added a level of frustration to what was otherwise a very nice experience.
Consumer Review:The folks at Direct Line Cruises added to the overall experience. We had to make a booking change when one of our people coudldn't go. The agents at DLC were most helpful and went out of their way to accomidate us. Thanks again. This was our second cruise, the first being on Carnival Glory. The Inspiration was a little smaller, but just as grand. The onboard staff were very friendly and really took care of us. We took four first time cruisers with us and they are no hooked on cruising. We haven't cruised with anyone but Carnival. We have enjoied both cruises and I am afraid to try another cruise line because I am afraid they will not measure up to Carnival.
